I'm Lua Grimalt, a psychologist, birth doula, and film photographer based in Amsterdam West. My work sits at the intersection of care and documentation — supporting families through birth, and sometimes holding onto the memory of it.

Raised in a culture that saw birth as a community event, and in a family of artists, caregivers, and pioneers, I grew up with a respect for craft and an instinct for story. That's still what guides everything I do.

For the past seven years I've been working with international and expat families through pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period — in English and Spanish, in their homes and in hospitals, through straightforward births and complicated ones. My background in clinical psychology shapes how I show up — not as a therapist, but as someone who understands what it means to feel held, informed, and like yourself inside an experience that can make you feel like anything but.
